"....sign me up for the next one, in fact make it a whole course!" RV
"it was good to learn to control the drums and the rhythms; i can see how it would be possible to develop a whole piece of music with just percussion, let's do that next time, when is the next time?" CV

greg abate says.....
in these days of gimmicks and non musical awareness, it is great to see a group like musicpeg dedicated to making the true art forms of culture through evolution.
as an international jazz artist/ recording artist/educator, i am hoping to share my knowledge and experience with young players and fans. i wholeheartedly believe in the importance of preserving jazz and classical music and making this an awareness of importance to the world.
there is just too much nonsensical so called music with no validity to art in my opinion. musicpeg know the true value of music.

NE (Devon) Hi Gary, I have put in a nomination, many thanks for a fantastic work shop I am looking forward to the next one, Many thanks NeilSD (Exeter) "I have attended several workshops now. Each one has been progressive in its approach enabling me to look at my own level of skill and experience. Not playing in a band and having plenty of practice time "on my own" led to a frustration that I was going nowhere. Attending a workshop was brilliant, I actually met people at of a similar level and got for the first time ever to play with "live" musicians with a whole load of instruments - like having my own band! Couldn't reccomend the experience enough, you need to try it to appreciate it"
PJ (Devon) ".... overall a real stretch in terms of musical experience and inspirational. yes i would do it again! big thanks to everyone at musicpeg, i will be back for more"
GD (Devon) "....i'm finding this very helpful already. reading is not my strong point but i am finding that greg's tip is not just a useful shortcut, but also drills in the notes more deeply. a great evening with only one quible - i wanted more time with greg!! thanks musicpeg for an adventurous programme throughout the year.

musicpeg (the music performance education group) is delighted to announce that they have won a major grant from awards for all, part of the big lottery fund. their first project is already up and running in
the cash will allow them to run a series of music workshops that bring together young and old, and provides all keen musicians the chance to develop their skills in the best possible way - playing to a live audience.
they will be celebrating the award at their regular monday workshop at st cuthbert mayne school which runs from 7.00-9.00. headteacher mrs cathy gilfillan will present the giant £9000 cheque to musicpeg treasurer steve dace.
the group currently has thirty five members aged from 12-70, with representatives from three secondary schools round the bay. awards for all tee-shirts will be worn by a range of group members at the ceremony.
the old-timer of the group is drummer pete colley who was the bank manager for the rolling stones when they started their career and the youngest members are keen musicians from st cuthbert mayne, churston and torquay boys.
the project was advertised at the torbay music festival in february this year, and the first weekly evening classes began in april at st cuthbert mayne school, whose lively music department has provided some keen talented youngsters. monday is afro-caribbean music night, tuesday is focused on funk and jazz.
st cuthbert mayne head cathy gilfillan is highly supportive of the project : "this another excellent example of our strong community links across the bay. we are proud to be associated with a project that brings people across the generations together in this way."
the ten-week courses will culminate in a final celebration concert on july 12th led by guest artist mike westbrook and his village band.
the charity is looking for more members from september - details are available from the website http://www.musicpeg.org.uk/.
